This 18.5 x 13 inch cutting board has spent its life as a showpiece, but we've finally decided to put it into the catalog. It's crafted from lychee and has two thin, parallel strips of blonde monkey pod running the length of the board on one side. If you look closely, you'll see that each of the monkey pod strips has a dark end. This is simply the variation in the wood. Monkey pod can vary from almost white to blonde to tan to chocolate in the same tree, and these strips capture an inch or so of that transition. The board has a juice grove around its edge and is finished in beeswax, which comes from hives in the center of Oahu near a pineapple plantation. It's a beautiful cutting board that you'll want to display in your kitchen, but it's a durable cutting board and made to be used. 
 
As with all of the wood we use, the lychee and monkey pod in this board was harvested sustainably. The wood we use is either farmed specifically for use in furniture or comes from trees naturally felled or cut for purposes other than the production of lumber. We will never knowingly use wild-harvested wood.
