This Hawaiian Heritage Box is made from solid silky oak which grew on the windward side of the Big Island of Hawaii. It is 12.5 inches wide by six inches tall by eight inches front to back, and features three distinct Polynesian kapa/tapa patterns, on the top, front, and back. The grain pattern in this silky oak is gorgeous, having flecks rather than long, identifiable grain, and it is almost iridescent. It is finished in semigloss lacquer. Note that this box is unique: it is the only silky oak box we've ever made, and it's very likely to be the last. This box was made in Kaneohe, Hawaii.

As with all of the wood we use, the silky oak in this box was grown and harvested sustainably in Hawaii. The wood we use is either farmed specifically for use in furniture or comes from trees naturally felled or cut for purposes other than the production of lumber. We will never knowingly use wild-harvested wood.
